The Clinical Integration Model
A Clinically Integrated Organization, or CIO, provides the vehicle for physician networks to enter into agreements with payers which through a high degree of physician collaboration will control costs and ensure clinical quality. In accordance with The Clinical Integration Model, the organization is required to be physician-led, physician-driven and physician-managed, and must establish and track performance quality and efficiency metrics. At least five metrics are required per specialty.
Physicians of the CIO are held accountable by the CIO Board of Managers for performance on metrics.
